Fly Repellent

I came on this morning to see what everyone has been using for fly traps these days too... I have been using some form of these (link below) for years and for my 4-5 hens, it does the trick, but not for 8. I put 2 out today and hope to see an improvement. We have a very small area so this is always tricky. Looking forward to seeing the ideas!

edit: I did a search on the topic and saw a member suggest PT Alpine Fly Bait so i did a quick look. All the amazon reviews swear by it and it seems very effective. I ordered it but will not use it directly near the coop for fear the chickens will eat the poisoned flies. Between the 2 fly baits, i feel confident i will see an improvement.

I used the fly traps until last year I got tired of my birds area smelling like something died. Even changing out the traps 1X a month. So a friend told me about shaving an Irish spring bar and putting it down into an old pair of knee highs then putting citronella oil on it I use a dropper to cover the outside of the knee high it works great and sure smells better.

Wow! I would love to try this~! The traps are terrible, no doubt. Where do you hang the stocking? Do you hang more than 1? Thanks!

FLY TAPE!!!
It has worked very very well for me. Put it where flies are most abundant, not at the chickens' level, though.
LOL I had some fly tape hanging from the ceiling in my coop some how my bantam chicken managed to fly and get caught in it and this is a high ceiling with a loft so not a low ceiling at all. Thankfully it was when everyone was going in for the night and I had not closed up yet.

thank you for the suggestion 🙏🏽 unfortunately the one from amazon cannot be shipped to my address for some reason so I cannot try that one.

well I need them for my duck coop, ducks are a bit taller but I found some ones that can stick to the wall, thank you for the suggestion

Yes that is the best kind. I found that flies like to go by the windows most so you can stick them to a window if you have one.
