Any advice please.
I believe my girl has fly strike on her butt. I never did see any maggots. But she had poopy butt so I cleaned her and found this a few days ago. I have been cleaning it every by soaking her in warm epsom everyday and cleaning with mild soap and water then soaking in vetericyn. Everytime after cleaning she has this drainage. The spot on her butt looks much better than it did a few days ago. What else can I do for her. I am waiting for some antibiotic to come in. TIA

I’m really sorry about your hen. I do hope there aren’t any maggots in there. How is she acting? I believe you’re doing the right thing by soaking. Do you have any triple antibiotic ointment such as neosporin (Without pain relief) that you could apply in the meantime while you wait for what you ordered? I would think almost any ointment at all could suffice right now to keep the wound from drying out while you wait for the cream you ordered to arrive. I’m sorry I don’t know what to make of the drainage. Could it just be water making its way out of the wound? As in is there an actual cavity under that scab, can you tell?

Let’s call in some help for you.

Yes, indeed, it's fly strike. I had a rooster with a similar wound from fly strike this summer. @alinas2010 gives good advice. The antibiotic ointment will help heal the tissue the maggots excavated. If there were any inside her body, there would be oozing flesh and you'd see maggots. She got off easy. The wound will heal.

Can you get some antibiotic ointment, such as Neosporin or Polysporin, and apply that? Even vaseline after spraying with Vetericyn can smother any maggots. I would continue the treatment you are doing. Do you think that she might have gotten a wound from a rooster spur or pecking? Those, along with the soiled vent area can bring about the flies and maggot infestation.

My rooster got fly strike from having diarrhea from an intestinal infection. The flies found the constant moist poop on his butt perfect for raising a family. The maggots were just having a royal time of it when I discovered them. I gave him a butt bath to wash them off. He had no open wound, just basically what this hen has.

The maggots were definitely eating the outer tissue, and I've no doubt that they would have kept going had I not discovered them in time. I used Neosporin on his butt where the maggots had inflamed the tissue, a thin scab formed, and it healed up in about a week.

Thank you! She is eating and drinking I did not order a cream antibiotic it is amoxicillin powder you put it he water. I am freaking out about could be maggots inside. I hope not I didn't know that was a possibility. 🙏 please NO!

If there is no open wound, there are no maggots inside. They can get inside only by way of an open wound or chewing their way through the outer skin. There are no maggots swarming her abdomen unless a fly flew into her beak, made its way down the crop and digestive system without being turned to jelly by digestive acids, and laid its eggs inside the intestines.

The wound will feel like a very bad abrasion or burn to your chicken. Keep Neosporin or the equivalent on it until it heals.

I’m sorry I must’ve misread, I thought you ordered an antibiotic cream, not an antibiotic! If you can get the wound to heal, you may not need the antibiotic, but it’s great to have on hand. I love the peace of mind having some on hand brings me, even though it’ll probably expire and I’ve only used it once.

I didn’t mean to alarm you, I believe in what @azygous is telling you; your hen is going to be okay from the sounds of it! I would listen to the advice her and @Eggcessive have given :) they’re so smart! You’re doing a great job and you caught it early.
