We have a wasp water trap. It looks like this.

Would this also catch flies? We don't have a wasp problem just flies around and in the coop. I've been seeing these huge flies, 3 times the size of a house fly. Will this work for all flies?

Hi! Welcome!!! Not sure if it would work with flies since there are other things they might be more interested in.......but I do know that several places like Walmart, Dollar Tree, Target etc sell these little hanging fly strips. They kind of remind me of a big firecracker but you pull them down so they look like a spring and hang it from the top of the coop/run area so the chickens can't get at them. They do work well, but are kinda gross when you need to change them out. I havaen't tried this yet myself but some people swear by hanging those little Christmas Tree looking air fresheners that you use in your car, but only the vanilla scent. Good Luck!

We're having the same problem with hundreds of flies in our coop. We've tried the fly strips, and they do catch a lot of flies. We've also got a fan running in the coop, but it seems like every time one fly dies, at least two come to replace it. I'm going to be following this thread to see what people come up with as well. I've heard those milk jug fly traps smell really bad if they're used.
