Hi all!

We have got so many flies!
We used to let the girl free range o the far side of the backyard, but foxes so now they’re in a 1.8x4.5m run. Plus also the missus wanted the far side of her backyard back.
Back the we did have flies, but because they were so far away it didn’t feel that bad.
However we’ve now got so many many flies so much nearer to home… help please!

My chook photo bombed….

The hope was to get a deep litter bed going, so there’s currently about 12cm-ish of a mix of hay, pine saw dust, grass clippings, all on a bed of dirt.

We stuck them all in about 3 weeks ago.

We’re in Melbourne Australia, so are using the envirosafe liquid fly traps

They do trap flies, but there are just so many!
Sources of water nearby is really just the chooks water bowls

Their droppings tray is lined with wood shavings and when I change it, I don’t see flies swarming up from it.

I’ve tried to find that Alpine PT that some there have talked about but haven’t had any luck in the local Melbourne shops.

I’m also not sure if this is just a summer thing, and past that, the flies will drop off.

But I’m really after help please!
Thank you in advance!

Put something sweet into a 2 liter bottle, just an inch. Lay it on its side with the cap off. They get in, but can't figure out how to get out. Also, hang fly tape (sticky on both sides).
