Can anyone recommend a good quality electronic Fly zapper/killer that works? We bought a stinger model and haven't seen a fly go in it yet.

Thanks!

Probably should go under predators and pests... but I'd like to know as well. I've tried all KINDS of things, those traps you add water to - sprays etc... I clean poop every day - and still FLIES!!!

My understanding on using the zappers for flies, is that you have to use a special attracting bait in them, to lure the flies in. I believe you can buy that separately. I don't know how well it works.

We use the wonderful, stinky, water-filled traps and they work for us. I think the predators and DE are great. There are other people's animals close to our house because of the way the land here was sectioned off, so a trap takes care of flies that are taking a tour over to our place.

I've also had good results with the traps that are like jars with the smelly stuff you put in the water.

They've worked wonders for my guinea pigs - their feces really attracts flies, but those traps attract them more.

Plus it's such 'fun' to watch them fill up with flies LOL

Eeesh, those bag-o-flies are so disgusting, but they work. This summer the fly problem was overwhelming. i tried the fly predators (which seems to make a big difference). Also use those fly jars (like the bags only opaque so you don't have to see all those fly eyes). Then if we were having guests over and wanted to clear the area fast, we laid the sticky fly strips all over the ground in the areas we saw the most flies.

i looked at those bug zappers but never bought one. The thing we found with the sticky fly strips, is that they don't work if hung up, they need to be on the ground as that is where the flies hover. So i would think with a bug zapper it would be the same thing. You might need to position it on the ground to catch the flies.

Hey...We had a fly issue and I was able to locate some DE. Now we hardly have any and we have 10 chickens. I would spend my money on DE.
Tink:)

Thanks everyone for the replies. I think for the $ I am just going to buy a bunch of DE.

Maybe some sticky strips also for getting rid of some of them quickly.
