Flying Banty?

Well I heard a banty flies, A LOT!!! Well, can I clip its wings, or will it still fly 24-50 ft?

I had to clip some of my banty wings cuz they were flying out of the yard and we would sometimes catch them going down the road..lol

they can fly pretty far.. i've had hens setting on eggs all the way on the other side of the yard at the farm house and we have a 8 acre back yard and when the hens notice i'm throwin corn for the chickens they have flew off there nest all the way to me cackling up a storm..lol

we don't clip the banty chicks wings though .. just in case they need to get away from something trying to get them

My mille fleur d'uccles fly into the pine trees and stay up there for an hour or two. Same with the leghorns. I dont even trust the Seramas out except in an aviary. They have flewn in the house and that was enough for me.
Orpingtons and cochins banys dont fly, too big. So it all depends what kind you have.

I pretty much taught all of mine to stay in their assigned area.(4 ft fenced) But I have had to chase some a little. And like I said, the Seramas are not coming out of the aviary. But, mainly chickens still like the ground best I think. And I havent had too many problems with them flying away or anything like that.

None of my chickens wings are clipped and if and when I chase them they usually dont fly up. I will just herd them into their coop at night, and I tell them "NO" when they eat my vegetable garden and they know to get out of the garden. So they are smart, they know where they can go and where they cant.

I wouldnt clip their wings unless you absolutely feel you just have to. And only clip one side if you do.
