Flying C Poultry Barns?

For reasons too long to number, I need to buy a coop already made. I have it down to the Chick-n-Barn (with modifications), and this one. I'd love any advice you may have. Thank you.

Hi, I'm in a similar place. I have 3 chicks in the brooder but don't have my coop yet. I have it down to the Chick N Barn as well, though that Chicken Tractor @ MPC is very nice looking! What sort of modifications did you have in mind for the Chick n Barn? Just curious.... I'm brand new to keeping chickens so am looking for any info.....

My goodness...it is nice but too pricey for what you are getting IMHO. You could build a box that gives you the same room and etc for 1/8 of what that thing costs.

We have the Chick-N-Barn/Yard and modified it. It's perfect for our Silkies.

For the price of the Flying C one...that run just doesn't look at all predator proof to me but we have coyote, fox, coon, opposums, stray dogs...just to name a few and I couldn't trust that run here, personally.

Dawn, the modifications I mentioned making to the Chick-n-barn were indeed inspired by pictures of yours! Actually, on the price, long story is that I can get a slightly used one, shipping included, for about $800 (but for anyone else interested, it is less expensive if you go directly to their website, although I love MPC). So it will cost me about $300 more than the C-N-B. Here's what I like about the Tractor 101, and Dawn, maybe you can advise. I like the galvanized roofing. I like how it's got weatherproof paint on the outside, and waterproofing on the interior, wire floor, that way I can just hose the thing down, and I'm worried that with the chick-n-barn, hosing it down a few times a year will take its toll. I've inquired as to the plywood thickness, and that's where I'm doubtful on the c-n-b. C-N-B says that it's 3/8", and I'd really prefer a little thicker for durability. Dawn, did you feel it was "flimsy" in any way? Someone described their chick-n-hutch as flimsy, and since this is also by Ware, that was a concern. Also, this may sound silly, but I like the look of the Tractor 101, and I have 1/3 acre in suburbia, and am trying to keep neighbors in mind, and not thinking "there goes the neighborhood". I don't want any complaints. Thanks again for input, it is helpful.

I posted this on another thread...

I actually purchased a small coop that I had seen advertised on My Pet Chicken. However, I found an ad on Craig's list in my local area. The ad was for the same coop on My Pet Chicken and after contacting the seller, found out that he was the builder for the coop. He was selling a prototype he built for $325 (he is a Navy Pilot training in my area/grew up on farm)...on MPC it advertises for over $1,000. I think the cost and time to build is high. Add shipping and that's why these coops are so expensive. I feel lucky thay I found the deal that I did! Here are two pictures of the coop.

I added some vinyl siding along the bottom and a piece of plywood on the bottom of the run so I could add pine shaving...it is now being used as a large brooder. I will move it outside to house 4 or 5 chickens when they get bigger.
