I guess chicks can fly sooner than I thought. Today I found my 3 week old to the day chick up on an outside roost with her mother. Earlier in the week the mom got up there but the chick couldn't get up there so this was quite a shock. Even if it got up on the ladder to the nest boxes that's still quite a long way for a tiny chick to fly. It may not look that way in the vid but it's a good 3-4 feet away. They grow up fast!

Yeah I was just really surprised.

Her mom jumped down but the chick hesitated. I had already turned off the camera. Wish I hadn't because the next thing I know she takes off and flies to the feeder. Not bad for a 3" baby!
