Discovered that one of my hens this morning had flystrike on a wound a bit below her vent. We've cleaned and flushed the wound with soapy water, and picked off till we could find no more maggots, then applied Iodine.

She was in the bath, with the wound underwater, for around an hour in total. I was thinking that with the wound underwater, the maggots wouldn't have oxygen, and would have to come out? Do you thing that is accurate?

I'm concerned about possible dead flesh. Will it not heal if there is dead flesh? I've attached pics for someone who hopefully know more about it than I do.

She's currently in a covered bin, resting on paper and normal towels, with a water-bowl. I'm planning to cook her some eggs in a bit after she's calmed down.

More info on the Hen if needed.
She's a bantam Cochin, about 9 years old, and doesn't lay eggs anymore. she's feels a normal weight, if maybe a bit skinny.
Her name is clover <3

I'm not sure what the next steps will be? I'm going to be completely honest and say that I totally panicked and would not have been able to do anything unless I had my sister helping. So I'm not thinking very straight lol. :hit
