Hi All!
I am planning on starting a fodder system for my chickens (I only have 5 backyard hens). I live in Buffalo, NY and this time of the year fall is starting and the chickens have torn up all our grass. To prepare for the winter months I've been doing some research into how to keep up their intake of greens and prevent boredom in the snowy months. I've seen the grass growing (wheatgrass, clover, greens in general) fodder systems where you provide a fast-growing sheet of grass/seeds to feed to the chickens at a rate of approx. one sheet per day. Can you all give me your favorite ideas, seed brands, materials, and pictures of your fodder systems so that I can hear what has worked for you experienced chicken parents and what has failed. Thanks in advance!
PS-PICTURES WOULD BE AMAZING! :D:thumbsup

Hi!
I don’t have any great advice, but I want to follow the thread. I’m in the Rochester area and have been thinking about the same things.

We don't grow fodder either for chickens but we do grow sprouts indoors for our family!

Buckwheat sprouts are really fast growing . . .

This site has the widest variety of sprouts I've seen, but I don't know if they are the most expensive.

Best wishes! You're doing a wonderful job taking care of your chickens! :)

We’re neighbors!! There are lots of great ideas on Pinterest for a fodder system, I just figured there a lot more experience with what works and what doesn’t on this site.
