Alright, so my 5 ducks are so wonderful. I love them dearly. Recently, their eating habits have left me with questions.

1. They used to devour crumble like it was the greatest food ever made. Now, I rarely have to refill their pans. There is always left overs, nearly half, from a previous feeding. They get crumble in the morning and before bed. No one is lazy, lethargic or sleepy. They are either playing in their pools or roaming the yard all day.

2. Snacks they once yelled about are getting spit out. My ducks used to LOVE grapes. They would eat them, then climb on me when I was out as if I was hiding some somewhere in my clothes. It was breakfast! Now, only my female Muscovy still eats them and only 5 or 6 slices. Only the Muscovies are nits over the romaine lettuce. The others sorta spit it out. We've tried berries, corn, peas, other leafy lettuces... but they poo-poo them. About the only treat they all scream for is tomatoes.

So, now that you know this, should I be worried? We love giving them treats, but all the treats people post about and say work so well, my ducks are not accepting.

I want to make sure they are eating well, and when I see that there is still half their crumble in the pan, I worry about that as well. I mean, are there REALLY that many bugs and grasses and such in my yard that they are filling up without crumble?

They could be getting enough if they are allowed to free range all day, or it may be that they prefer the free range buffet to the crumble. As far as treats, this is the first duck I've had that WON'T inhale tomatoes LOL. You might consider picking up what they don't eat in the morning though, if it gets wet and goes sour, it could be harmful. Or so I've heard. I can definitely tell the difference after it's sat for a few hours, but then again, Dandy eats inside, and it's easier to smell sour food in a closed room.

Yes it’s normal. Mine are doing the same thing right now. They are eating lots of bugs, grass, and plants. I wouldn’t be worried. You would be surprised at how much they can find in a day.
Mine too - i think they prefer the slugs to the treats I used to give them. Personally I think strawberries are tastier than slugs so I don't get it :gig

Slugs are so slimy and gross I don't know how they can eat them. My ducks prefer earth worms but I have to find them for them I go out before bedtime and I turn over rocks etc looking for the worms for my greedy piggies I mean ducks.

Well kudos to you! I don't think I could make myself even lick a slug much less eat one to know that strawberries are better LOL
