So I purchased a metal garbage can to keep my chicken feed in. The bottom of the can is not sealed very well apparently. As I started getting towards the bottom I noticed clumpy food, some with roots starting to grow from the clumps. I stirred it up, noticed a little moisture, but thought nothing more of it. Well I opened the can this morning and found the rest of the food nearly one solid clump, with some mold starting on the top. Lots of stuff trying to root. I will be sealing the can prior to adding more food, but what about the food that's in there now?

Hello,
I would advise throwing out that food and cleaning out the can,
the mold is not a good sign. Good luck!

So, I actually buried all the food that was left in the can. We will see what grows. Lol. I also rinsed out the can, and dried it. Grabbed my caulking gun and slapped some silicone on all the seams (outside of the can).

Good!

I have a funny story...

My Dad and I were tilling the gardens,
and we decided to put the chicken manure in the gardens.

It worked, but we feed them corn.
That year, we didn't plant corn and we got 3 gardens of corn.
We didn't eat it of course! :lau
