It could've been a lot more graphically violent than it was, to be honest. From what I recall, there were brief shots of cows being hung upside down on hooks, shots of chicks on the assembly line having their beaks cauterized before being thrown down metal chutes, one gross scene (for me) in which a guy pokes around through a hole in the side of a steer to show what microbes have done to its stomach, and shots from CAFOs showing crowds of cattle standing in their own feces as well as shots from inside a chicken house showing chickens which can barely walk and multiple corpses being picked up and thrown out. There's also a shot of chicken chasers in the night gathering hens to be crated up, and they kick them around on the dirt floor.

Oh, and there's a scene of chickens being processed outside at Polyface farms. Watching them flap around before being killed was a little disturbing for me, even though I don't consider that cruelty.

I agree.

Especially on an anonymous Internet forum where anyone can say anything, with no accountability as to the accuracy or truthfulness of what is said. I read and watch everything with a critical eye and a grain of salt.

Sites like this it is more like a boulder.

Watch the movie. Use critical thinking. Decide for yourself.

I just hope they get it here in the library... I'm sure it will be awhile before it is released on DVD. I am really looking forward to watching it.

I like the boulder thing.

I can assure you I'm who I say I am.....if I was going to make my life up I'd have made us one of the ginormous farmers who was reaping the bounties of the system....not a struggling family farmer/rancher. Plus, I'd have made myself much younger and better-looking!!

I think a lot of us are missing the other message, food and medicine has become the means for the government to control the masses. If we are self supporting overwhelmingly the elite lose a grip. Many or most large industry food operations donate big money or provide special services, such as free use of private aircraft, pleasure boats, expensive golf memberships, and many other forms of graft. I understand the large food industry has a place with our massive population. But anybody who can, should be growing or raising their own food. This will make a overall good impact on the environment, as well as saving energy and lowering food prices to those who can't do for themselves.

Don't be fooled the food industry are aware of those who are self sufficient and intimidated by it. I wonder how this movie would be responded to had Al Gore been involved. I do not know that he wasn't, but I think the idea for this movie came along before the change. Yes it appears to be anti government and anti big business, but it appears to be non partisan, both sides cater to big business.
