Food prices

Sure wish the would come up with more GMO foods maybe that would bring down prices. I think that's all they should plant.

And Monsanto wants the cannabis industry too. All I am saying is research before you give all your trust to Monsanto. Think yen and yang. Once you have Monsanto seeds in your garden, it will be very difficult to go back.

I like diet coke too, despite the fake sweeteners. I wouldn't be happy if that was my only choice for the rest of my life.

That would be the best thing for the cannabis industry Monsanto would get the riff raff out of it.

"The first mention of the possibility of cannabis being genetically modified I could find was cited in a document leaked toCannabis Culture back in 2000, which read in part: "Cannabis seeds from Monsanto are almost definitely genetically engineered. Genetically engineered plants can be patented, and it is in Monsanto's best interest to hold a patent on any seed they sell. Seed patents ensure that companies like Monsanto can continue to profit from seeds from year to year, as farmers are legally bound to buy patented seeds from the patent holder rather than simply store them from the last year's crop.” http://www.celebstoner.com/201110218771/blogs/misc/why-we-must-ban-gm-cannabis.html

I wonder how much gene tampering happens with regular growers. My guess is not a lot. I'm of the belief that skilled gardening, such as creating hybrids is not really the same as the molecular level splicing that occurs in GMOs. I'll stick with natural.

So now you don't like patents ? So if I invent something you want to be able to come along and steal it without compensating me ? Now I think we all see what kind of person you really are.

Dennis I wasn't planning on engaging in a conversation with you, but since you asked, I have no problem with patents. I do have concerns with what Monsanto is doing with their seed patents because they are establishing a plant (food) monopoly. It is my belief that you can't just have Monsanto once. Once you go Monsanto, you are stuck with Monsanto for life. And sadly, there are allegations that even those who chose to not use Monsanto's GMOs have found themselves in legal battles as the wind carried Monsanto seed to their farm from their neighbors GMO farm.

I do believe that Monsanto may be using the cannabis community as pawns. If Monsanto patented seed is being unknowingly circulated among the community, Monsanto will claim the patent once the FDA gives them the go ahead to grow for the pharmaceutical companies.

To answer your question: I very much support protecting intellectual property. I do not support devious patent monopolies, especially a monopoly as serious as the global food and medicine supply. Clear?

The pot of today is definitely modified by humans. It has very high THC and those strains are cloned. The U.S. government has had a hand in this... in a lab like Monsanto's.

The cloning that goes on with cannabis is nothing new. All it is is just a cut from the plant that is allowed to grow into a full size plant as well. Also the fact that it has higher THC doesn't mean it is bad. We have bigger tomatoes and corn without GMO happening to them. We have chihuahuas and huskies. Doesn't mean they were made from labs either.

Yes. Thank you.

I know what cloning is, I never said it was bad or any GMO crop was bad. It is genetically modified though and it has been done in a lab by the US and in the UK and presumably much the same way as Monsanto does it.

Cloned pot plants are cuttings dipped in rooting hormones and put in a potting medium. I have a BIL that grew it for Uncle Sam in the 70's he knows aaallll about it.
