Food Storage Ideas

x2 (edit: x4 lol) on the metal can if there is a rodent issue at all. Worked very well with our little rat problem. Food stays dry (can is stored under cover though). After getting the cans for feed and scratch, etc. I was able to successfully trap 16+ rats. They were starving due to not getting to feed anymore, which forced them into the live traps with sardines.

Some hardware stores sell the smaller metal cans. 6 gallon and 10 gallon. Bungie cord over the lid should do the trick like previously mentioned.

One 50 pound feed bag fits in two 5 gallon plastic buckets. The buckets are stored in the cellar. We track feed usage by writing the date on the bucket when we add a new bag of feed. The feed store is close by, so we visit there about once a month. A couple days a week, we fill a one gallon pitcher with feed and another with water. The coffee can is used to transport a small (handful) amount of scratch or cracked corn. That calls the girls to give them a quick visual check. We are careful to not spill any feed as we do not want to encourage mice in the basement. So far so good.
