I hope Loki doesn't eat them! LolThe 6 babies are here!
I will take single shots tomorrow when they join my Norse babies in the big kid brooder!
I need to post an update on them! I took some pics of them in the big kid brooder.I hope Loki doesn't eat them! Lol
My plan is to raise these, keep all the hens and either find an unrelated roo or keep one of these roos. Then I will put them in my empty breeding pen and hatch their eggs and have the chicks for selling and to raise for meat. Can I ask if you raise these birds for eggs, meat, or both? My friend also raises American Bresse and he says they're exceptional meat chickens that are healthier than Cornish X and you can breed them so more sustainable.
Sounds like a great plan! I've tossed around the idea of Bresse or meat quail but personally wouldn't do Cornish X.My plan is to raise these, keep all the hens and either find an unrelated roo or keep one of these roos. All the roosters, except for 1 (if I can't find an unrelated boy) will be raised for meat.
They are definitely healthier than the cornish cross and can live healthily even if you decide not to butcher them. Cornish cross can break their legs and die of heart failure if they aren't butchered at the right time.
I plan to go to quail and then rabbits once all my chicken things are established.Sounds like a great plan! I've tossed around the idea of Bresse or meat quail but personally wouldn't do Cornish X.
