So I plan on butchering all of my chickens next Sunday. All I have left for food is 3 quarters of a 5 gallon bucket. Meat bird feed is pretty expensive and since they probably won’t finish an entire bag in a little over a week I was wondering if there is something cheaper I could feed them. Would wild bird seed work? Thanks

You could try feeding cracked corn or scratch - but for a week and a half, I'm not sure if it would be a good idea, maybe?

3/4 of a 5 gallon bucket is about 15-18 pounds. At 8-10 weeks, two birds could easily eat half of that amount in 7 days. I would get a bag of scratch or cracked corn asap and start mixing it in at about a 2:1 ratio (grower:corn)

I was gonna say the same thing grab corn and mix it

If you birds have not been getting grit, they will need grit to process the corn in their crop. I would try and get the cheapest crumble available and in a 25# bag of possible for the final week instead of grains.
