Foods that make eggs more delicate tasting and tender?

I have Silkies and my girls' eggs are a little strong and a bit tough, not like my first flock. I'm thinking that diet may play a role, but not sure of what I might be feeding/treating them that would do this. Any thoughts on this?

While free range and happy hens certainly make the eggs taste better than battery or store bought eggs, the diet doesn't play a huge role.

What are you feeding them?

The only foods you should avoid that can affect the taste of eggs are garlic and onions. But I think any other kitchen scraps that are safe for poultry enhance the flavour! As long as the hens have enough calcium, protein, space and clean bedding then the eggs should be fine.

Hope that helps. :)

The feed is what I can get around here - Manna organic layer pellet mixed with Nutrena All Flock (I have an old rooster I care about), oyster shells and grit and for treats it tends to be dark greens, berries, some egg, other veges, mealies and corn/grains. That should be good, don't you think? Maybe it's me?

That sounds fine :)

"Maybe its just you" LOL, Did you have different breed before? Does breeds has something to do with egg taste? I heard duck eggs are a little stronger in flavor and harder shells.

Same breed - silkie. They just seem a bit tough and a little strong (not the birds, they're sweet and fluffy). They certainly live a healthy life and get good food. They never get McDonalds even though they're always asking for happy meals. I tell them that there are better ways to get happy and give them some strawberries.
