Fooled by TSC- what else is new?!

Going back to your original post @jspurr318, you like I did purchased chicks for the purpose of eggs and pets. If they grow up healthy and give you eggs and enjoyment watching chicken TV, then mission accomplished. I don't have the ambition or ego to raise perfect little chickens for show. My interest in purchasing certain breeds is to have an idea of what to expect in coloring, size and behavior. Also, depending on the lighting when the photo was taken the same chicks may look very different in different photos. My RIR hens and my rooster are a rich mahogony red color. Their temperments are different with the rooster coming out on top of being the most gentle natured. I wish you the best of luck with your wee flock.

After getting help here on this board before I bought my chicks back in June I was standing in the feed store pulling up photos on my phone because they didn't have the breeds I wanted and I had to take substitutions.

I've totally done that too. The local stores I've bought from have never mislabeled the breed bins but when you're picking a substitute breed on the fly, I still want to make sure I'm getting something suitable for my purposes.
