Foot deformity?

Hello all, was just wondering if anyone else has had experience with one foot curling under and the other toes curling inward. This little one, whom we are going to call Nemo, just hatched about an hour ago with much help. The other egger died while hatching yesterday and I'm wondering if they both didn't have the same issue. I've read about splayed legs, but I don't think that is the issue. Thoughts?

It doesn't look like splayed legs. The one foot that the toes are curling inward you may be able to splint to hold the toes in the correct position. I'm not sure from the pic in what way the other foot is curling under, but if the bone structure is normal, it may be able to be splinted into the correct position also.

Best way to describe the other foot is being like a gorilla walking using it's knuckles. Any idea of how long I should wait to splint it?

No problem. I'd keep the ones that hatch out in the incubator until they're all dried out as well just in case. Your chick should be walking around in the morning!

From what I was told and what I have read, I thought this should be addressed immediately, but maybe I have been doing it wrong. I am confused by what @MillersFarm said about chicks not being able to use their legs until day 2. In my experience the chicks have always been up stumbling around on their legs shortly after hatching. Am I misunderstanding what @MillersFarm means?

I suppose I worded that a bit oddly. What i meant to say was that most chickings don't get their walking legs until it's been over 24 hours for them to strengthen up their legs. The first couple of hours a chick is hatched it wont seem like it's able to use it's legs much. Sorry for any misunderstandings.
