but there is more then one right way, I know people who have raised quail around chickens for YEARS without problems, and fed them 18% layer ration as adults with problems. It just seems that around here you either do it your way or you shouldnt be raising them.

THEY DO NOT RESPOND WELL TO MANY DIFFERING WAYS, THEY HIGHLY SPECIALIZED SPECES THAT HAVE EVOLVED DIFFERENTLY TO MEET DIFFERING CONDITIONS AND HAVE NOT BE KEPT DOMESTICALLY ANYWHERE NEAR AS LONG AS OTHER DOMESTICATED POULTRY= THIS IS FUNDIMENTAL KNOWLEDGE FOR ANYONE WANTING TO BE A GAMEBIRD ENTHUSIAST. BY ACCEPTING THIS IT MEANS YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT SOME THINGS WILL DIFFER GREATLY AND FOR GOOD REASON===MOTHER NATURES REASONS.

#2 THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF QUAIL AND THEY EXHIBIT VERY DIFFERENT BEHAVIORS AND PROBLEM SETS AS WELL AS NEEDS. ANSWERING A BOB WHITE QUESTION WITH COTURNIX INFORMATION IS ALMOST ALWAYS GOING TO BE INCORRECT--- THEY ARE NOT THE SAME, PERIOD!

Maybe some are just trying to get thread locked...........yes more then one way to do something........but two ways ,almost every time one works better.

I am not on this section much..........but some wrong info on here will do alot of harm.............and yes i will point it out, then people can take it or leave it.

Most of my info i have learn over years raising thousands of birds.


Like the white lights for brooders....will it work yes sometime.......untill that day they start eating their fellow birds inside first.......coturnix are nothing like other quail or other gamebirds.

Are my ways the only way , no but I have seen or try alot of ways.

Just like I posted about coon eating legs off quail, thru 1/2 x 1/2 wire..........wasn't 3 days until someone posted about the very thing happen.


Like I post all the time about danger of peafowl and turkey with chicken...........for sure going to get a post about i do without problem, oh people will say you can. Then read a post of a person that lost 9 out of 10 of their turkey, what did they tell me.......yep guy told them sure you can keep them with chicken. had one tested yep blackhead guess what carry blackhead with no harm to them CHICKEN.

Yep more than one way........but a heck alot more risk one way.
