Below are 3 videos showing my Lady Amherst Male (Brucie) morphing from his drab brown colours to his spectacular adult plumage. The videos are in Chronological order.

It is strange when they change. It is so quick! Mine only took about 6 weeks from brown to amazing. Problem is he is frightened by his own hood, he thinks something is touching the back of his head so he tries to get away from it or attacks it.

How long does it take most pheasants to transform? My Red Golden Pheasant still hasn't gotten all his feathers in and he is over a year old.

Well my Amherst changed between the age of 13 months to 15 months of age. Mine did it in several stages. The next time your bird moults his new colours will come through. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Thanks a ton! He is very beautiful, but when we see the picture of his parents, we're reminded that he's not quite as stunning yet.

Paitence, it will happen soon enough. I kinda miss the way Brucie (The above Pheasant) looked when he was a young bird.
