Footless wonder

I have one little chicken that lost her feet to frost bite. (She got frost bite before she was in my care!) I had a large flock- I've learned many things about chicken husbandry but would love to learn more and help others learn.

Welcome! My favorite bird (pictured in my avatar) lost one of her feet to frostbite last winter! She moves around just like the other chickens and I've seen her scratching with her nub (lol). The one thing I hadn't expected is that I needed to make her a safe nesting spot close to the ground—she can't get up to roost with the other birds. But she sometimes snuggles with the ducks ◡̈

I'd love to read more about your hen. I remember a book I read as a kid about a dog who befriended a hen who had the exact same thing happen to her. I didn't realize it was an actual issue that happened irl. She sounds like a trooper!
