For Erica, because I know you are so starved for the green of Washington. This is a view from behind the house, taken today.

For Loren and Carolyn, because you are so far ahead of us in property readiness, and we've been here 3 years. It's bad, but a LOT better than when we got it. Where the tall grass is now was all briar and rotting logs.

I see a lot of potential there. What direction are the slopes facing?

Also, on irregular terrain like that, goats are going to do a very good job cleaning up the edible vegetation... and they take less diesel than John Deere was. I think it's a nice setting and it reminds me of 'home' in Cowlitz County.

I toally need to borrow that excavator. I'm so jealous!!

Dh needs to borrow a tractor, and we have a trailer....maybe we could work something out. DH just has to get the trailer fixed.

The slopes face south and east.

I want green like that. When I was a kid I would get so sick of the rain, we played outside rain or shine. I really miss the PNW. Thanks for the pictures they are so pretty.

I would very much like to trade. I was lucky and had a backhoe for about 30 days over winter. I couldn't believe how much I got accomplished with us. Of course, our soils are a bit organic and clayey, so I spent as much time digging the bucket out. But, man is it fun to rip open a trench!!

As far as the green, Chknrs gets probably 30-40 inches of rain per year where she lives. The island I live on is within a small rain shadow, but 2 miles either side of us gets around 80 inches of rain per year. Our summer is noticably delayed... but boy does the grass grow like mad here.

Thank you. I thought ya might enjoy them. It rained off and on here most of the day yesterday, with more scheduled for today. But I love it here!

I guess getting the trailer tongue reinforced needs to be a priority! With summer coming up it will be a lot easier to run a machine like that!
