To have good fertile breeders anf good hatchability
you all can use this recipe
Glenda L Heywood

1/2 gallon of wheat
1/8 cup of wheat germ (Pure not blended kind)
mix good to coat the grains
let stand over bight
then mix and feed eacj bird 3 tbsp in feeders
so both the male and females get 3 tbsp each
This provides Vit E for fertility

also you can use
1/2 gallon of wheat
1/8 cup of cod liver oil ( from drug store and not flavored)
mix good and feed each bird 3 tbsp of mix in feeder

DO NOT mix these two oils as one out does the other.
always feed one mix on one day a week and the other another day of the week

Should be given 6-8 weeks before starting to breed chickens and thru the breeding and hatching season/8 cup of cod liver oil ( to provide vit a & D this for good hatchability)

Also besure and feed breeders good dark greens
such as spinach, kale, collard greens, swiss chard
every day what they will eat in 30 minutes

You can even hang a cabbage by wrapping it in chicken wire and hanging from ceiling to about 12 inches from floor for large fowl
lower for bantams

I think maybe you were typing while tired, or with a squirmy child on your lap or something! LOL!

What are you mixing the wheat with, here? I saw on the first one you said 1/2 gal wheat, and 1/8 cup of wheat germ, then below it looks like like you meant wheat germ oil.

You didn't name another oil, but said don't mix the 2 oils. What's the other one?

sorry I made the mistake
I am gld you corrected me
yes it is wheat germ oil 1/8 cup and 1/2 gallon of wheat
and
1/8 cup of cod liver oil
do not mix two oils but feed on different days

this is very good for fertility and hatchability

That sounds similar to the breeding food you give to pigeons.

Thanks, Glenda, I think I'll try this. I free-range my birds, so they get all kinds of good stuff anyway, and fertility/hatchability has been excellent. But what the heck, good, nutritious snacks for them sure won't hurt anything!
