for just a moment

Picture this: a cool, misty morning. Cows mooing in distant pastures. Ducks softly quacking, and picking at grass. Chickens clucking, scratching, happily with the ducks. Dogs standing watch. Kids sitting on the steps watching the yard, and me standing on the porch with hot coffee in hand tears in my eyes, and "this is joy" in my mind. For just one moment this morning I found complete peace in my world...

Then the 4 year old pushed the 3 year old, a dog took off to catch the elusive bunny she has been chasing all summer, a ducked hissed at the chickens and lunged, a rooster didn't like that at all. Peaceful moment over.


I love country life.
