I have not been able to sleep for a few days, I wake up real early in morning and unable to fall back to sleep -so instead of laying there tossing and turning and wakeing my DH up I just get up, I then spend my day doing all the chores around here- I dont take a nap in the afternoon in the hopes that by the time it is bedtime I will be tired enough to sleep - not the case I end up laying there for awhile - cant get comfortable, cant fall asleep.
There is no reason for me to not get sleep. no health problems or anything.
DH says the past few days I have been well how should I put this ummmm ..... witchy LOL and alittle not so fun to be around LOL
Lack of sleep is making me not fell very well, I just dont have the energy to care for my animals ( I am forcing myself to get out there and feed,water,and spend time with all them ) dont want them to suffer because I am tired.
Does anyone have a meds free solution to this problem? Please I need to get a full nights sleep before my DH packs his bags and goes out to sleep with the chickens LOL

Are you stressed? When I'm stressed, I can't sleep.

Have you tried chamomile tea or a glass of wine (or whatever you choice of "adult" drink is)? Maybe some warm milk will help.
 
Is it that "time" of month for you?

Stop drinking caffeine by 5:00, no cigarettes or alcohol or exercise after then either, take a warm bath an hour before bed to help you relax. If you find yourself awake, get out of bed and read a book (no TV) for 15 minutes then try again. If that doesn't help and it continues, you need to see a sleep specialist.

Pull out the shovel and dig a 400 gallon pond in one day, decide it is a bad idea and fill it in. That should make you so tired and exhausted that you'll fall right asleep!

Really other than to make yourself more tired by physical activities, don't know what to to do make you sleep better... read a text book?
 
I don't have any med free, but tylenol pm or unisom for 1-3 nights will help. Sometimes the body just decides on a new routine, and needs something to jumpstart it into the old routine. This happened during 2 of my pregnancies, and my ob suggest tylenol pm or unisom. I did unisom because I didn't want anymore meds in me as neccesary (they both have the same sleep med, but tylenol has acetaminaphine). I was worse with the unisom, so took the tylenol for 2 nights and it worked. I understand wanted to use a non-med solution, sorry I don't have one. Good luck!!!!

You may be depressed and stressed. Sometimes it is hard to diagnose for yourself. I have been there.

What I did was exercise hard in the middle of the day (whatever you can do - walk, run, bicycle, or shovel like Silkie said) and then in the evening I would pick up a book to read. Seemed that in a relatively short while my lids would get heavy.

Well no it's not that " time " for me, I don't smoke, dont drink adult type drinks, and I dont own any exercise anythings LOL.
I will try the tea thing.

As far as digging the pond hmm the ducks would be so happy if I did - I am sure they would fetch the shovel for me LOL

I don't watch much tv so I might try to grab a book tonight, maybe I will go buy a book about chickens LOL

thanks for the ideas I am sure I will find something that will help If I have to take some over the counter meds I will, I just hate using meds for something like not sleeping.

As far as stress- I don't think that is a problem, I work from home so I have no contact with people during the day I am here by myself with my animals and even though they confuse me daily they don't stress me out. DH has been trying to help with projects around the house I have been bugging him to do for weeks - he is trying to make me not so witchy - well if I never get any sleep at least something good will come from it - all those projects are getting done.

Caffeine really messes with me. If I drink it after 5pm, I toss and turn all night and sometimes my heart races. That includes aspirin with caffeine in it.

Nothing makes me grumpier than not getting a good nights sleep! You can get an over-the-counter sleep aid at Wal-Mart or something. Just use it once and see if it helps.

Let us know if things get better!!
 
Julie if I take a long walk after dinner I usually sleep great. No need to do fierce excercising just do something to make you tired out. Maybe DH can help

Sometimes when I have a couple nights when I can't sleep well - the not sleeping stresses me out.
 
Make sure you have bloodwork done and your thyroid gland checked!!...tired and not sleeping sometimes means thyroid!!..
