For my Dh's sake please help.....

I use melatonin (time released if you can get it). I'm told it's a naturally occuring supplement that your body makes (but I'm no doctor). It works wonders for me...in fact, I can't take it after 8 p.m., because if I do, I won't get up in time to get to work! And that would be a bad thing...I'd have to stay home and play with my little feathered darlings...hm......

I get like that sometimes, so I'll take a couple (IAW instructions on bottle) valerian root pills to help myself get some sleep.

If your problems persist, I'd recommend going to see a doctor. There may be something medically wrong as Tuffoldhen suggested.

You don't mention your age. When I was 40 I started sleeping very badly due to hormones. I used to take ages to get to sleep and wake up perhaps 20 times a night. When I was 52 I woke up one morning and suddenly realised that I had slept right through the night, and have slept very well since. I coped by having a radio next to my ear all night. It makes the time less boring and sometimes there are some very interesting programs on. If I felt really lively I would get up and make cups of weak tea and read and go back to bed when I felt tired. Hope you feel better soon.

I am starting to feel pretty run down - so far today I have put up border paper in my bathroom, hung a small over the potty cabinet, clean the kitchen, played fetch with my dogs, went out to spend time with my featherd kids.
Well as far as my age I turn the ripe old age of 35 on sunday.

I think most of my problem is this has been a very messed up week : I have a dog who has been going potty in her sleep, another dog who was almost dog-napped, I have to rehome some of my hens ( they are getting picked on by the others ).

I think I am feeling a little bummed out lately, I will try the tea tonight and reading a book along with some Pm sleep aide from over the counter - give it a few days if nothing works I will see a doctor.

Thank you everyone for all the wonderful help, not only are you great to help with chicken problems, but you are great at people problems too.

This may sound a little silly, but I swear it helps me sleep better.

Take a big dose of chewable vitamin C or drink a large glass of orange juice right before you go to sleep. (You may brush your teeth , of course

) I've never seen of heard of this anywhere else, but it works for me. And, hey--at least it's one of those things that won't hurt to try, and will even be good for you generally, whether or not it helps you sleep better tonight.

Good luck; I hope you can get some good sleep.

There is an all natural drug that his suppose to help people sleep. It is called maltonin...not sure on the spelling. You can get it just about anywhere where they sell vitamins. We got ours at walmart. Worked well on my mom when she had issues slepeing!

I will give you the same advice silkiechicken gave you; read a textbook, or some other boring book like a user's manual. Works like a charm for me... I'm usually out like a light after 10 pages or so.

I'm finishing a degree in CS, and I have to do all my required text reading at night, because if I do it during the day I end up having to take a nap!

k625... it's melatonin. I've used that before. It works pretty well for me, but I wake up at 2 or 3. My husband loves it, though. Good idea.

As I'm thinking, too, it seems like you can get tryptophan (you know... that's what's in turkey that makes you so sleepy after Thanksgiving Dinner) OTC from health food stores, too.

Did you change the clock back there in NM? I don't remember if you do or not. Maybe it has "your clock" all messed up. Have you ever tried lavendar oil? If not, you need to. It is an essential oil that you rub on your wrist. It gets in your bloodstream and totally relaxes me. I can even taste it in my mouth.

The Sleeping ingredient In the Pm medications is diphenhydramine better known as Benadryl - This is the most common non-prescription sleeping aid prescribed -

****Before taking anything including the all natural junk which can affect your thyroid call your doctor - Feeling run down is a medical situation - rather it be depression , stress
or lack of exercise or too much exercise --
not sleeping in itself can cause stress which causes you not to sleep which causes stress -- The Loop reaction.
always consider your thyroid when tired only a Doc can rule out
