For the impatient folks out there..

hmmm that comes out to about 7 dozen plus a month hmmm well i guess you could say that you have a little bit of experince

During spring and summer, I run a GQF sportsman, a Brinsea OvaEasy 360 and 2 Hovabators - possibility of about 800 eggs at any given time. I try to relax over winter, but usually am not successful. I did pretty well this year, but time to get started again. We are already getting chick orders, so time to get the bators warmed up and rolling. I can't wait for brooders full of chicks again as well. But I guess I had to remind myself about the patience part. Thought it would be good to share with all the other folks hatching out there. Have fun..but give em time to develop.

LOL...Between chicks sales local and shipped, it does take up a lot of my time. But I enjoy sharing our breeds with others who like them too. It also takes a lot of hatching to identify good and bad quality in your birds. That is the only way to improve your lines.

I haven't hatched as many as Jody does but I have done over a hundred or so...she is right on the nose with candling please resist and wait til day 7, if a questionalbe egg, mark it with an ? mark and wait til day 14 unless it starts to smell funny or seeps....

Good advice to post Jody...

Jody, That is such good advise and it is exactly what I tell anyone who asks me. However, lately I have not follow my own advise, lol. I have just been to anxious to see who is laying fertile eggs and I want to free up room in the incubator in case of duds. I can't get more than 16 in there at a time so I cheat and candle early lately. I am going to do better, I promise
