That is awesome - thank you for sharing. My cat's head jerked around every time the chick chirped! Okay, since I have never done this before and am about to set some eggs (hopefully tomorrow), how long would it be "normal" for the chick to lay and regain its strength after getting out of the egg before standing up? That poor little guy looked just exhausted.
after that, it got up again within a minute.. stumbled over to another spot, fell asleep, then did it again and again until it was done motoring around the bator and came to rest on top of some eggs... every 5 minutes it moves around a bit.. not much balance definitely looks drunk! lol. and it's only been an hour. it's already getting a bit fluffy too. i'd say by morning it will be pretty strong. My Jan 6/7 hatches are very strong, fluffy singing chicks. one of them sounds like a robin, SO CUTE!
