? for those who have ordered from My Pet Chicken before

I got a shipment of 25 Barred Plymouth Rock pullets from them last Thursday. 26 arrived, 1 was smaller than the others and weak. She passed away by that evening, even with TLC. ALL of the others were literally bouncing around and have done great. It was my first order from them and I'm very happy with their service.

We ordered 6 sussex and 6 hamburgs and all arrived in good health. Strangely one died a week later. Also I ordered only 1 rooster of each, but received 3 hamburg roosters. Very good "packaging". I would order from them again.

My 8 'mixed order,' Polish, EE, and others came in good shape, all did fine and have turned to healthy attractive birds. Perfect order and good birds from MPC. Since that time I have got more birds locally to avoid shipping.

Mine were all healthy, I got the 25 rainbow egg layers pullets. 26 birds were sent, one of which (so far) has turned out to be a roo, and I got no EEs. Most of them are either brown or white leghorns, with some SLW and BA in the mix. A few dom's as well.

The one chick that you have that is smaller is probably just having a 'failure to thrive' issue. It could go on to be a happy healthy bird, but it could also die. One way to tell if it is bantam or standard is to remember how they were when you got them. If it is a bantam, you would have noticed then. Day old bantams are maybe half as big as day old LF, you should have noticed a big difference!

I would say it's just failure to thrive. Just be sure that one is eating enough, that the others aren't pushing it out of the way at feeding time.

I too got the 25 Rainbow Pullet Special 4 wks ago tomorrow (Mon) 26 arrived - 1 was a little weak but perked up after dipping beak a few times even though it only wanted to sleep.

All doing well in their ugly duckling stage. I will order from them again.

In my first batch of chicks I got from the feed store in Feb 09, one of the two RIR's was a runt and slept all the time directly under the red heat lamp while the others would run around and play, often times stepping on Little Red.

I thought I'd find her dead one morning however, at age 5-6 wks she began to grow and within a month, I couldn't tell the two RIR's apart.

Good luck with your little one.

I ordered 8 from MPC last October. 5 EE's and 3 BO's of the 8 I received one crossbeak and 3 roosters (supposed to be pullets, not straight run) However...I called them and the customer service was outstanding and they refunded my money for ALL of them!! I will do business with them again!!

My runt, "Itty Bitty", is doing well. She eats and drinks like a champ. I was feeding the girls some grapes yesterday and she got some pieces to munch on. Its so cute to see her playing keep away from the bigger girls. The 10 out of 12 that survived are all very healthy. They are just starting to go outdoors in their run now. They don't get very far from the ramp but they are loving the dirt and grass! They are 6 weeks old today. I notified MPC via email about the chick that didn't survive. I never heard back from them but thats no biggie.

I ordered the 25 Rainbow Pullet special. I clicked on the allow substitutions box as I was not looking for specific breeds, but a Rainbow of egg colors. I received two runts that I believe are some sort of bantam now. Excuse my ignorance but I believe they are Bb red bantams? Here is a picture, I have two that are the same kind (color) so I believe that rules out the "runt" factor. I thought they would at least be all Standard egg layers, but these are definitely bantams as they are half the size of my other chicks.

I ordered from MPC back in July. They called me right away to let me know that they did not have any availability on one of the breeds that I had ordered. I went ahead and substituted 4 EE to go with the 6 Delawares that I also ordered. All arrived alive and healthy. My wife and I have been surprised at how fast they have been growing! This is the second batch of chicks that we have had the first coming from a feed store. I did not get what I was told I was getting at the feed store but I recieved absolutely what I paid for from MY PET CHICKEN. My pullets are 10 weeks old now and going strong! Thanks for the great chicks MPC!

I ordered 8 Faverolles (6 females & 2 males) in July. I received all 8 exactly as ordered. All are still alive and healthy.

Two of my pullets are substantially smaller than the others, but since MPC doesn't offer Bantam Favs, I assumed they are just runts. And ironically they are the prettiest in the flock, with the sassiest attitudes to boot!
