Foraging - The Human Version

I haven't tried chanterelles but they're very easy to recognize. I've heard good things about them. Can't wait to try them this year. When do they grow? There were lots in my back yard (woods) at one point.

So I keep meaning to actually forage...but my backyard has been keeping me busy. I have however spotted the tree that butts up to my yard has its mulberries started, hopefully they will be ripe soon so I can get them before the birds do!

My husband and I did end up getting fiddle head ferns from Crown O Maine (from Trader Joe’s). They were amazing cooked with some butter and garlic. I thought I could at least post a picture of them. Next year I would love to forage for some!

I live in Northern Europe. I have a nice spot of chanterelles on my property. They're the only mushroom I dare to pick.

I also have cloudberries nearby. My favorite berry, but the last years we've had drought in the summer so I've only found a handful. There's tons of blueberries though!

We fish and even though the fish is small, you can't beat freshly caught mountain trout. Yum!

Pretty new too it but getting there. Too frightened to dive into foraging mushrooms though I'd LOVE too. Delicious
My new property I've found black raspberry, blackberry and wild blueberries ( which goats found first) but left 1/2 probably cause weren't ripe at the time but soon.. found a lot of yarrow and actually found St. John wart!
Made my first tinctures with St. John wart and yarrow. Been doing a lot of research and finally ready to put some to use so I was excited

Those look delicious! What kind of flavor. For some reason I'm picturing them having spinach like flavor. I think I found Fiddleneck down by the trail by the creek but when I found it was a while ago and wasn't comfortable at that point with Knowing exactly because I was still in early research mode
