forced removal

I know this might sound extreme but has there ever been a surgery devised that would stop a rooster crowing so that one could live in a suburban area? I ask this because ages ago I used to run a paper route and one of the dogs on my route had had it's vocal chords cut because it would bark nonstop. It still had a whispery sound that creeped me out the first time I heard it until I found out the source of the sound. Imagine hearing this sound over and over in the predawn light just after you had watched a scary movie the night before.

as usual I agree with PeepsCA. (even if she lives in california)

a temporary home would be great, or move them first if you are moving very soon and have friends there that could help.

Well lets start by saying I shouldn't have even dignified that statement with a res ponce. And because you have been kind of word to me I'm responding to you. Quite frankly I'm sure you wouldn't condone cutting the vocal cords of any animal or human to change their natural way of communicating and if she thought she was responding to a different thread I apologize but it didn't seem to be said in jest. I was offended by the statement and I only hope that any thinking being will understand that some human mouth's are way out in front of their brains. I did find a great home for my flock on 80 acres living with alot of chickens but I sure do miss them and taking care of them. Thanks for responding as ever your humble waddle watcher. Breeze

Are you talking to me? If you are, I'm sorry I offended you, but how?

You have not in anyway affected in a negative manner my being and I appreciate the total responce from you but it was directed toward a comment from penny hen. I love ALL ANIMALS and most humans

I don;t support humans sacrificing animal abilities so they fit more into human enviorment for human's own satisfaction. My original thread was posted in responce to a thread written by penny hen which I found to be more crass than in jest. I want to thank you for your support and solution. regards Breeze

x2. Humans took dogs from the wild to domesticate them. In a way, when you take away a domestic dog's bark, you are taking it away from its home and you are taking away its dignity. I am not saying dogs should be returned into the wild, I'm saying taking away a dog's voice is cruel. Like Breeze, I disagree with your comment, Penny Hen.

I didn't mean to offend anyone about the silencing the rooster. It was late and the situation reminded me of the dog that was on my paper route. I reread what I wrote and realized now that I had had sleep how it sounded. I don't think the people who silenced their dog did him/her any favors. They were just lazy and had enough money for that kind of surgery instead of hiring a professional dog trainer and spending more time with the dog. In all the time I collected for the paper I never saw anyone interact with the dog. It was left alone for hours on a chain. Oh it was fed and look physically fine but s/he was a head case constantly whisper barking and lunging on the chain. It just made me suddenly wonder IF anyone knows of it being done, not the approval of such a practice.
