Hello Bird Lovers,
My husband and I live on 13 1/2 acres at the east base of the northern Oregon costal range surrounded by grain fields, vineyards and filbert/hazelnut orchards and wood lots. We are newly retired and have fun playing/working on our hobby farm. I have raised steer, lamb, rabbit, chickens and turkey for food in my life. I am also an organic gardener. My husband built me a big hoop style green house which extends our growing season and helps some of the hot climate crops ripen during the summer and fall. Right now we only have a few chickens and a pair of Narragansett Turkeys that just hatched 7 poults. Planning on picking up a few more laying hens, some Cornish Cross chicks, and in time we may be raising rabbits for meat also. I have raised big animals in the past and not interested in that so much at our age (I'm 63 and my husband is 70). Our birds are behind a 6 foot fence on an acre with a beautiful coop in the middle. My husband built an automatically operated timed coop door with a car Antana motor and a large sized wall hanging food feeding (that easily holds a large bag of feed) so we can travel some and not have to mind the birds daily.

Thanks so much to rjhons for already reaching out and answering a question I had about separating our Tom from the poults.

Thanks also to Rob for creating this awesome website. I have already checked it out several times over the last 5 years to research challenges with our birds.
