Forgot to remove the egg turner from my incubator.

I feel for you on that one. The humane thing to do is break it's neck. That said, I have never been able to bring myself to do that. And I get mad at myself EVERY TIME for making them suffer.

I would pull the turner out of the incubator, its too much of a mess to clean up afterwards and sometimes chicks do get hung up in it.

If you want to be upright, place the hatching eggs into a syrofoam or paper egg cartons, and place them back into the incubator and close it to finish hatching. A minute of this is not going to hurt the chicks, just like any other mother hen would get off the nest to take a break. After the hatching is done, you can throw away all the shells, gunk and dead chicks with the cartons in the garbage.

Get a plastic bag and sharp scissors or pruning shears. Set the shears on its neck and put the bag over so you can't see anything. We haven't had to do this yet and I'm not sure I could.

I read on here someone said to put the chick in a bag and then under the wheel of your tire. Back the vehicle up and... well. It's very gruesome but quick.

Sorry you have to make that choice.

I ended up putting the chick in a plastic Walmart bag and swung it down hard on the cement. Stopped chirping immediately so it did the job. After I was finished I had such a terrible feeling inside of me. I kept wondering if I did the right thing. Now today I feel better about it. I think it was suffering and I knew it would never be normal even if it lived a few days. It still was so very hard to do. Makes me wonder if I will hatch anymore out.
Thanks to everyone for the help. I removed the egg turner today and out of 19 eggs, 11 hatched. I think that is pretty good.

This one looks like it has some of its insides on the outside and has blood on it. It is still curled up and just laying there. I am trying to think of a humane way to dispose of this little thing. It may be in pain, not sure. I was hoping it would die right away, but now it is about 4 hrs. old and still chirping. I am so very sad for it. Does anyone know what I should do?
...a lot of people may disagree with this and it does sound harsh but snap it's neck. If done correctly the chick won't feel anything.
