when do i pull the chord on the eggs that were turned twice a day after day 18 until early on the 20th day. i know, i know. we had someone watch/turn the eggs while we were gone and .....

so, today is day 23. when do i give up?

one of seven eggs hatched, at least.

I'd give up on day 25. If you end up with just the one chick, I'd run to a feed store and buy a couple more... they are social and shouldn't be alone.

Morning Mahroni!

i'm giving thought to another chick for him. i'd have to sell him later on if he isn't the breed we want. keeping him in my shirt keeps him quiet. i hope that is okay. i'd like to take him out of brooder (where he is noisy) or out of my shirt and put him in a shoebox close to one of us, but i'd not have a way to keep him warm. i'm thinking an addition might help. but we just don't have the room for too many more...

hey, we were just in your neck of the woods last week. we backpacked the grand canyon and havasu falls. man, i love the havasu falls. for the terrain, it was relatively easy as we weren't gaining elevation. the hardest part was backpacking gear to bottom of grand canyon on S. Kaibab trail.

My three hatched day 25, so keep waiting. Just remember to see if anyone's alive in those eggs before you cut them off

I would candle on day 23. The last time I let one go till day 25, on day 24 I candled and had movement. Day 25 it was dead. I won't let them go that far anymore...but that's just me.

Don't worry about the turner being on. Lots of people have hatched chicks in a turner. Every duck hatch I had started pipping in the turner! They came out fine.

today is day 25. when i candle, the eggs should be solid dark w/ the chick inside. how will i know if something is alive inside?
