Forgotten eggs

So I always make sure I collect eggs first thing in the morning before work and up until yesterday it worked flawlessly....

I went out like I normally do and collected my eggs but the girls were a little more awake and more excited then usual and I got caught up playing with them and realized I was going to be late for work so I put the bucket in the box where I keep the shavings and ran. I figured I would just get them when I got home and 11 hrs later I totally forgot the eggs stayed outside all night in the cold NH weather. Are they still good?

They are still good but possibly frozen. What was the low temperature overnight?

They're totally fine. Just check to see if they were cracked. If it was too chilly they might have frozen and then thawed leaving hidden cracks behind. Otherwise frozen eggs are also fine just a funny texture.

Cracks are easiest to detect if you shine a light through the egg.

Even if they freeze, you can still use them for some things. I don't like frozen eggs for fried eggs because the yolk is hard from the crystallization. They are still edible.
If mine freeze, I keep them in the freezer till I find a use for them.

You know those eggs were probably all laid the day before?
I collect eggs when locking up after dark,
then eggs never spend the night in the coop....especially in winter.

I check it when I lock them up for the night too.

I was going to ask about frozen eggs too but different circumstances - it's just dang cold during the day too !!! Thanks to all

If all else fails cook them up and give them back. I assure you they will not mind at all. I do that with any eggs I have in question.
