Former vet tech but stunned

Try Sevin dust. I know that works for mites and lice. Good job with switching their materials. I request making the a dirt bath box. They love it and and it helps with lice. Also if you can and are willing grow catnip or rosemary and put the leaves in the nest boxes and/or shaving to repel insects

DE isn't going to do a thing.
Get Permethrin.

I have never heard of a dairy bomb, do you have a photo of it?
Don’t have a pic but it’s a durvet product labeled for chicken mite control. Called 55-z. I’ll try to post a pick of “ Dairy bomb”.

Going to have husband cut me another roof vent. I changed bedding..about half the birds seems dry sneezy or irritated. They eat layer crumbles scratch and table food like diced cherry tomatoes scrambled eggs and free range.. I have video of swallowed shrew..
they have had strange off white vent dribble about 2 weeks
Can you post some photos of the chickens, your housing and their vents?
They have white dribble? Is that on the feathers, is it on the skin too, any yeasty odor?

Got up before the chickens today, admired the freshly fallen 5 inches of snow for a few moments and then suited up for action.
I felt 15 crops,.. empty and fine which was a huge relief after all that it “could be”. I inspected the vent “dribble” more closely (with glasses on) and it was clusters of lice nits ( grey clusters quill base)
I was also alarmed to hold each bird and feel that they had lost a noticeable amount of weight so I declared war and dusted everyone with Sevin dust. I may get rebuked by some but I love my birds and felt that it was worth the risk. Will get some permethrin for next stop and frisk chicken rights violation. Them being on the porch is a weather issue.

Glad you figured out what the white dribble was!
Eh, the Sevin may work. It's no longer labeled for poultry but I would use it - it works on my veggies. I have seen where some believe that it's lost it's effectiveness in killing poultry lice and mites, but I agree, if that's what you have on hand, then go for it.
