Forsythia Cuttings

I saw some Forsythia cutting bundles at the store, and bought one. They are pretty tall 2-4 Feet. I would like to plant some of these outside as shrubs, will I be able to do that to cuttings this size? Do I need to root them inside first, or can I just plant the unrooted cutting outside and expect it to grow?

I've always rooted them inside first. Not sure how well they would grow if planted outside.

You can try putting them straight in the ground, or put a little rooting hormone on them to help them out. You can also try putting them in a bucket of warm water with rooting hormone and see if they root. Change the water every few days to aviod disease and fungus. They are pretty easy to care for, so should have some luck getting them to root.
