Fort Cluck - First Time Building Coop

I like outside access to nestboxes so that I can collect eggs without getting poop on my shoes. This is even more important if you ever want to go away and ask someone to take care of your chickens. :)
It gets muddy around the back of the coop because we have more of a clay soil, so constantly walking back there would make it more of a mess than it already is. I’d rather get a little poop on my shoes than slipping in mud and getting poop and whatever else all over my back.

My dad never goes anywhere, so I don’t have to worry about getting someone else to take care of my chickens, lol.

Tomorrow we’re going to finish putting tin on the roof and taking the old nesting boxes out.

Well, the new nesting boxes are done more or less. I was at work when my dad finished them up, but I don’t like what he did with the roost part. It’s not what I envisioned but :idunno

So!! This should’ve been done sooner, but a run is finally being built as the hawks finally found the chickens ( lost 1 chook so far ). A very persistent Cooper’s hawk has made this a decision for me. I had to chase the damn thing ( as it was chasing a chicken, lol ) barefoot through the frost covered yard because it found one the chickens’ hiding spots.

Anyways, I can’t quite remember the dimensions but I do know it’s going to be 6ft tall once the legs get put on it. I think it’s 20ft long? 5? 6?ft wide? I’d have to ask again because I have a bad case of CRS
