not a great picture, but you can see where his adult & juvenile feathers meet.
So cute!!
I know! I’m really excited to see them grown. I got a silver appleyard, rouen and a fawn & white runner. They threw in an extra rouen too.So cute!!
Aww, poor baby.As excited as I am, the runner did come with a cut/scab on the side of her bill. Not sure how that even happened, but should I just put ointment on it until it heals or should it be fine?

Okay, i have ointment with no pain reliever ( funnily enough, I’m allergic to the ones that have it ). I just can’t figure out how she even got it other than it happened while she was still AT the hatchery. The box looked fine and wasn’t damaged at all, so I’m at a loss. I can’t imagine the other ducklings being able to crush her bill. Looking at it more, it kind of looks like she had it up against something hot.Aww, poor baby.
My adult duck had a bill injury - probably from rubbing on the wires of her aviary. Your baby's kind of looks crushed.
I had my duck in at the vet for another issue so I asked about the bill. The vet was very nonchalant about her bill injury, and told me to keep it clean (hahahaha!!) and if I wanted to put a light layer of antibacterial ointment (without pain reliever) on it twice daily. I did it because I had to catch her and medicate her anyway. It healed up perfectly, but took months. The vets weren't concerned with the time it took.
I would probably put ointment on your duckling if she were mine. It looks different enough compared to my duck's injury that I'm not sure if recommendations would be the same.
