After much discussion between the staff we made some changes:

1) We created a new category for FAQs, Announcements, and the GFM section.
2) We renamed the "main" cateory to "Raising Backyard chickens"
3) We renamed "misc" to "Other BackYard Poultry"
4) We moved recipes to the "Social" section
5) We created a bunch of new "other backyard poultry" sub-forums
6) We moved oodles and oodles of threads into the new sections
7) We're still trying to find a home for "other pets / livestock" (of course all livestock discussions should now be here: http://www.backyardherds.com )

We hope you like the changes and it makes navigation a bit easier.

Remember, if you aren't interested in a specific section / category of the forum you can now minimize those sections by following the instructions here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=184299

It is organized, but I can't help but wonder if it is "too" organized.

The general "Waterfowl" forum, moved along at a good clip. What made you want to change it? Now, I think we will have slow and stagnant forums. I think that forums like the "Swans" and "Peafowl" will be pretty slow.

Not trying to be negative, just trying to give some constructive criticism. Also, the Pets & Other Poultry, I think it's a little bit of a hassle to go to another site.

There you go, constructive criticism.

It is a valid point. We may merge some of the "slower" forums if need be. We're just seeing an increase in usage of these sections, especially for some specific poultry, and decided it was time to separate them out.

If after a while our community decided they don't like it / it makes finding / posting information harder then we will consider moving things back to a version of how they were.

I have absolutely no complaints with the restructuring of BYC or BYH. However,
We're still trying to find a home for "other pets / livestock" (of course all livestock discussions should now be here: http://www.backyardherds.com )

This is my only area of concern. There are many of us who raise rabbits, for meat (me!) or pet/show quality. I realize BYH's forum categories are brimming. Would it be possible to have a spot somewhere for rabbits? I know there are probably quite a few who would/could benefit from that.
Sorry to be a pain in the derriere.
