I have been thinking about fostering some wild ducklings from the local animal shelter. I know that rescues are often full with lots of baby animals this time of year and would like to help out. Since ducklings are born precocial (which means they can move, get food, and already have feathers), they are a bit easier to care for than say rabbits, songbirds, or squirrels, which need nearly 24/7 expert care. With so many ducklings, the people that work at rescues easily become overwhelmed and can't always take care of all the animals. By fostering, the people that know how to care for other animals that really need help, can care for them. If anyone here has fostered ducklings before or works at a rescue and advice or info about this would be great.

Are you planning on becoming a licensed rehabbed? To foster them legally, I believe you need a permit or a license.
Yes, I was thinking about that. I''d like to call the rescue and ask what requirements there are. But if I have to I'll probably just get a licence. I love animals and would very much like to be an animal rehabber, it's just that I'm to young to do most things :/

I know here they have courses you can take to become a rehabber.
