found 4 abandoned leghorn roosters.........

My two BSL hens are going to be 5 in two month's time. One still lays me an egg a day, more or less, and the other lays me a few eggs a week.

I've never clipped a chicken's wings - some chickens can learn how to fly with 'em clipped anyway. And i always like the idea that my chickens can fly to safety if necessary

Good luck with your roo, that's really nice of you to rescue them all!

I have 5 hens about 4 years old. They lay larger eggs, every other day, sometimes daily. It seems like they had quite a hiatus until my pullets started laying.....then it seemed like everybody got into the egg act.

My Jerry Remy was a baby doll...I could carry him around like a sack of potatoes...hmmm.

He also started crowing when he was 6 weeks old.

Thanks for finding those lovely boys homes...4,000 Good Karma points to you.

Obelisk churned out eggs her first and second years, but it's slowed down...She's five now, as of Monday and I expect her to lay from March until July when she'll quit for her moult. But she's a spoiled pet and I'd love her if she never laid an egg again...sorta sounds like Slifer, but that's another story.

Thanks for all the advice , I ended up just turning him loose with the hens, left it up to fate.Couple times I felt so sorry for him laying in the corner of the coop-yard cause the hens chased him away all day.

BUT, I think Mr. Foghorn had a good night .
When I went out to close up the coop last night Mr. Foghorn was laying in the center of all the hens.... sleeping! When I reached in to take him out and put him in his cage for the night the hens had a fit. They huddled around him as if they weren't going to let me take him. So, I left him. Apparently, he's a trooper.

This morning as I was letting them all out of the coop he was standing on his cage looking at me, as he got down to run out one of the girls GOOSED him so to speak. Maybe, they are just nice to him at night. I'm sure they will work it out.
