Hi all, sorry, I have not been on the forum for a few weeks.

I did not get any PMs about this, I do live in the area and will definately help if needed.

Please allcreaturesgreatandsmall, let me know if you hear anything. I sent you a private message with my real name and cell#.

The birds are still there as of today. The missing bird was the second grey goose. I had heard from a local person who had been feeding them that someone took the sick (or blind) bird one day. I have not seen that person around any time I have visited to ask more details. I have been communicating with the Elburn Wildlife Center. I am not sure how much of this is fact but they told me that the forest preserve's wildlife biologist was working with some volunteers to capture and relocate the birds. They did not know where the birds were to be taken. I have spoken with one of the actual volunteers who also had no details about this. Apparently, the group tried an unsuccessful rescue on Wed, 11/16. I have been told that they will try again on Sunday. No details of the time were given. The volunteer has not returned my call about what happened and where the birds would be homed. I check on them each day to be sure they are ok and I feed them (cracked corn). I will provide more details when available. I'm hoping this weekend's rescue attempt will be successful. I am growing quite fond of the birds, especially the geese as they come right up to me on shore, and almost "murmur" as they are eating. They are so sweet and trusting. I really hope they end up in a caring home!

Thanks for the update. Yes, feral and dumped animals are often not easy to catch unlike what the general public seems to think.

At our lake, there are stories of people seeing others snatch ducks and geese there and taking them home to eat. I seriously doubt that because even if the birds are eating out of your hand, the minute you look like you are going to grab them, they move very fast out of the way. I can attest to this because I've tried to catch some very friendly ducks to take fishing hooks and lines off of them, it's not easy!
