Anyone know what i could feed this dove? And maybe know around what age it is.I do know they eat crop milk but should it still be fed milk I do have pigeon milk powder that I can feed it or should it eat something else.I heard chick crumble started is good to give with a mix of seed but I’m not sure what it should eat at this age

You can mix wet dogfood and warm water, not too wet. would be better than whole worms since mom bird chew up worms before feeding to babies. I just found a baby starling, I gave it some food, (chewed hamberger) but decided his mom may feed him still if he was out of a nest. I put him under a bush. Just to let you know, birds don't smell humans but if you mess with their babies they can see that.

I saw your other post with the picture. I am no dove/pidgeon expert! But That might be a fledgling that has actually intentionally just jumped from the nest to the ground. At around 14 days I believe they leave the nest for good and the parents still feed and monitor them on the ground. From what I’ve read they will learn to fly during this time. They really should be under a bush or low tree for protection, but some end up out in the open. I found one out in our driveway once and wanted to care for it and bring it in, but it’s crop was still full and so I just put it under a low tree and kept an eye on it all day. Turned out parents still were watching it and bringing it food. After a day or so it was learning to fly/jump up into the low branches of the trees and it finally left the area; learned to fly maybe? I’m not sure, your situation might be different. Just thought I’d share my experience :) Birds are weird, good luck with the little guy.

I understand, birds are so silly about where they choose to nest, sometimes they need our help. Share his progress, I love a happy ending.

Please take it to a wildlife rehabilitation center if there’s any nearby. If you raise it yourself, the dove could become imprinted on humans, which would hinder its ability to survive in the wild. Also, it’s very easy for someone who isn’t a professional to accidentally cause a baby bird to aspirate while trying to feed it.

Doves (and pigeons) don’t eat insects or meat, they primarily eat seeds. Baby dives should not be fed dog food.
