We do wildlife programmes here too they are in most places now! - and if the mouse is handled and has No other wild mouse input then most likely it will become tame and thus will likely die if let go.
You are correct in some things you say but you really need to have a bunch of babies and treat them as wild from the start. This mouse seems to be constantly handled and being a single more likely to become tame.

my chookies love a good frog or mouse treat.
Sorry, that sounds really really insensitive, but its the truth, they are pests.
That didn;t work with my Gerty she got broody and tried to mother them all ! They were hiding in her feathers like chicks ( She is a cuckoo Maran so is grey like them!) I had to chase them out of the nesting box more than once!!!! - she never ate any of them but she sure tried to eat me for taking them from her!
I personally am not a fan of mice and buy them to feed my snakes...but I understand wanting to help something my only thought is what is the purpose of helping something survive that is considered a pest and dinner to hundreds of predators?
I however have to say - good job for attempting to help one of the other little lives on our planet.
When you said that I thought of us all doing so much for our chickens trying to keep them alive and knowing in some places they are pests especially the Rooooosters. They are certainly dinner to hundreds of preditors and deffinately top of our best liked Meats!!!!!!!!!! - Is it so different for the mouse? Actually they are eaten by humans too in some places!
Oesdog -
Keep on keeping your mouse safe, handle it loads and love it much! - just don;t let the thing breed!!!!!!!!!!
It's definitely possible. Don't worry about over feeding, she'll let you know when she's finished. I like to wait a few days after their eyes open and then give them a shallow dish of formula. They should start lapping up the formula on their own soon enough. I use a 1cc syringe and a piece of paper towel that I roll between my fingers first. Once it's thin enough I put it in the tip of the syringe and let suck on it that way. I've raised a bunch of orphaned mice and rats this way. I usually make a type of sling out of fabric and if I need to go anywhere I bring them along. I've had to feed baby mice at my niece's soccer games before.
