So today, I had to work. so I texted my Mom to get chicken feed for me since I was working. On the way back from the store, she saw a white thing on the side of the road. She backed up and saw that it was a chicken, just sitting there! When she got closer, she saw that someone had tied the poor thing's feet together!

So being the good soul she is, she took it home where they had to cut the ropes off of her feet. We decided to name her "Freeda" since we freed her from the rope. You think she would have been as scared as heck of us after all she must have been through, but she's the sweetest thing! She lets up pet her and pick her up and she doesn't squirm one bit! This is one very lucky chicken!

DUDE!! Where's my chicken!!!!!!!

Wow, I think her name should have been "Lucky"! Who takes the time and effort to tie up a chicken? If you don't want it, I could think of a dozen things you could do with it. Weird... My guess is that it was a kid. I am a retired teacher, and tying up a chicken has "middle school" written all over it.

awww that stinks. HOW can people do that to an innocent creature? That makes me SO mad. Bless your heart for taking her in. Good job. She will be forever greatful to you. keep us posted on her. How about some good pictures of her being spoiled!

thank you from the bottom of a fellow chicken rescues heart. and that would be from Hope.(my rescue of a bad situation too)

So glad you guys saved her. People are just mean sometimes. I just rescued a new chick that was abandoned last Friday - was left in a small plastic cage in the rain at a local high school.

WHY???? Why do people do things like this? Thank goodness there are people around to rescue little chicks, and hens that have been tied up? What the? Why not just drop it off at a shelter?

I live at the end of a dead end street. Last year we had a young roosters left on the street in front of our house three times during the summer. I just don't understand people. My husband was so upset, he went out and rescued all of them. I hope it doesn't happen again this year. It's very upsetting to see them treated like that.
