Found a ferret. What can it eat?

I kept ferrets and to be honest they will eat just about anything... but they do like meat..... that is their purpose... watch your fingers.... they are not fussy.

My pet, would lauch himself at your plate if you had beans on toast.... they are quite easy really.

Thanks everyone. I gave him cat food but he ignored it and went to sleep. I may boil him some chicken pretty soon. There are no pet stores in town. I am gonna watch this little guy close because I had to separate him from a Siberian Husky. He looks fine but I don't know if the dog ever attacked him or not. When I went out to see why the dog was barking they were kind of at a stand off with each other. I know absolutely nothing about ferrets so I don't know what is the normal way of acting with them. He is drinking from a rabbit waterer just fine so that eases my mind a little.

Chances are that he was either after your dogs food, or wanted his house.
My ferret got out once in the spring and moved into my neighbors dog house. She couldn't figure out why her dog wouldn't go into her house. When I went over looking for the ferret she told me about it and when I checked the dog house there the little bugger was, curled up in the dogs blankets.

Check the inside of it's ears. You should see a tatoo. It's just a dot or two. Most ferrets come from Marshalls and they tatoo all of them. If it has the dots than it is fixed. They spay and neuter all of them before being sold.
You might want to knock on the doors of your closest neighbors to find it's owners.
Good Luck!

I fed my ferrets dry cat food that was low in ash. Was it ash? Low in something. I didn't have to feed it special "ferret food". They didn't sell it in the stores yet.

I guess it was looking for the other one. I assume and hope they belong to my neighbor who will be back today so I can unload these things. They are cute but todays arrival is mischievous. Are these animals friendly or territorial toward each other? It would be nice to put them in the same cage. I can't keep this thing contained in a shoebox for one second without watching it so going outside to grab another cage is out of the question.

If they were togehter they will probably get a long fine. I had two for years and they got a long great. They are very mischeivious though.
I fed cat food for years and mine lived to be very old and it was not any kind of fancy cat food either just walmart brand. When ferret food finally came out, I tried to get them to eat it and they would not.

I had ferrets about twenty years ago. One book said to feed them an occassional live mouse. The ferret was used to chase mice or rats out of their holes and the farmers would stand at the entrances of the holes and dispatch each one. I didn't have the stomach to do that.

Ferrets absolutely love a little bit of Linatone on your fingers and raisins as treats!
