I Googled his name and didn't come up with anything. I wonder which side he was on during the revolution.

That's interesting! Your town offices or historical society should have some info on it. There is also a good chance that is it not the only grave but the only stone left. Are there any flat rocks close by that look like they could be grave markers?

His first name would have been Thomas. Back in the day, they would abbreviate common first names. Maybe you knew this already, but just mentioning it in case you didn't.

that's very interesting. He'd prob. be hard to find info on though, with such common name.

Maybe you can look at old census records.

Hello,
That is not uncommon. We found several old graves on our farm.
I would contact one of the local cematary's and see if they have a historical record of all graves in the area that it can be added to..
You just give them the location and all the info you just gave us.
That way if any one is doing their family tree/history they do not hit a road block with that name & Location.
I think there is also an area on roots web you can enter it.

Its like finding a peice of american history and putting it back where it belongs.
I should also mention that If you see any indentations in the ground there may be more.
Ours acually said what they died from, Young KIDS - Yellow Fever - I think, any way it was something fever.

I found a Thomas Jackson that died May 10, 1863, that is really neat that you found a grave. I hope you have fun finding it's history.

you might try the english connection mentioned on the gravestone...I find that quite intriguing and it makes me think that perhaps that even though he may have died in this country, he may not have been a citizen .
